Year One

I can't believe its already been a whole year!! When we got engaged the first thing I did was start a blog (because that just what you're supposed to do when you get married) but I forgot about pretty fast, so thanks to all my good friends who have reminded me that I have one and that I should update it!

So first things first, our wedding was amazing! It's actually kind of a blur looking back now, so thanks goodness for pictures! I married my best friend and I'm so lucky to have him! Look how handsome he is....

We've had so much fun being married so far and looking back over the past year, we've done a lot of really fun things! I graduated a few weeks after we got married and soon after started working as a phlebotomist for a company in Orem. Jeff was still in school so I spent a lot of time decorating our house and trying lots of recipes! Jeff says I am a great cook even when I make things a little burnty sometimes. I've made all my mom's recipes so far, so if anybody has any good ones I should try, let me know! This is one of my latest masterpieces and it has domestic goddess written all over it...

Jeff has grandparents out in Vermont and they were so nice to fly us out for a couple weeks this summer! Grandma Charmaine and Terry live in a tiny town there and we had so much visiting them. We learned pretty quick that in Vermont, "down the street" means New Hamphire, so we got to see a lot back east. We hiked, swam in freezing cold rivers, ran every morning with Terry, and went to some really good restaurants. It's so pretty back there and we hope to go back sometime soon!

Here we are at Lake Champlaine! Thats NY right behind us!

This summer we went camping a lot!!! We stocked up on all new camping and fishing gear and tried to get up to the mountains as much as we could! Our favorite spot was up at Schoffield Lake; we couldn't find a camping spot near the lake so we just kept driving up the mountain til we reached the top. When we were driving I saw two puppys on the side of the road so we stopped and set up camp right on this cliff where the dogs were. It was such a pretty view! The puppies stayed with us the whole time, and they made me feel safe because I knew that if a bear came, it would eat the dogs first. We brought up our dutch oven, cooked a yummy dinner, then went on a hike.
Here's Jeff with the puppies

It might look like our campsite is on a slant...well that's because it was. We didn't sleep very well at all.

We woke up early and went fishing down at the lake. We caught nine fish!! Jeff brought one home and cooked it up, it wasn't bad either! It was so funny watching Jeff clean out the fish, we kept giving me fish anatomy lessons and saying how amazing it was. He's going to be a great doctor haha!

My family is a little insane when it comes to Halloween, and of course we did our annual crazy dinner at Mama Donna's house. Jeff was out of town at a med schoo interview that weekend so he was sad he missed it, but my family came in town and we had a little too much fun!

Got to have the witches hats!!
I don't think I've bought many clothes since I've been married, instead I've kinda become addicted to holiday decorations. I love Halloween!!!
And here comes Christmas!! This year went by so fast! I wanted to get a real tree, but this one is perfect for us for now

So for our one year anniversary we wanted to do something really fun, so Jeff came up with the idea to go down to Las Vegas for a few days. I'd never been before so it was extra exciting. We stayed at the MGM Grand and had a super nice room that even had a tv in the mirror! Jeff and I don't even own a tv so that was quite the upgrade! I went to Vegas thinking we'd lay by the pool and get a tan, but nooooo, it was just about freezing. So instead we spent the weekend walking everywhere and getting free smoothies in all the casinos. My favorite thing was the fountains at the Bellagio, I could have watched it a hundred times! It was such a fun second honeymoon with my hubby, and it was nice to just get to be with eachother all day long. Here's some pictures from the trip....

Happy one year babe!! xoxo

Taking a break and thawing out in the Bellagio
We made it back from Vegas just in time for Thanksgiving. My family came over from Colorado and we were able to go up to Temple Square on Friday night to see the Christmas lights. I don't think any us of thought it would be as cold as it was, so I think we lasted about 20 minutes. But we managed to get a few pictures of us all together.
Cute family picture! I'm the idiot not wearing socks, and it took a while for my feet to thaw out. The lights were pretty though!

Merry Christmas everyone!!
It's crazy how fast this year went but it's been a good one! Jeff has been accepted to two medical schools out in Missouri, one is in Kansas City and the other in northern Missouri. I'm so proud of him, he has worked so hard and I know he will be an wonderful doctor in um...cough...a few years. I love him for his dedication and for always putting our family first. I don't know how I got so lucky! We'll keep everyone updated with our decision, but either way it looks like we're Missouri bound next fall! It will be quite the adventure thats for sure!

We miss all of our amazing friends who have moved away but we're grateful to still have some of you close by! We're so excited for Steph and Drew and Lynds and Brenden, they are going to be such great parents!! ps When did we get old enough to start having kids?? We are excited to spend Christmas with our amazing families this year too, we are so blessed to have such great people in our lives and we're excited for many more great years to come. And I promise I'll try to remember that I have a blog from now on! Merry Christmas everyone!!
